Top of the Mountain - Taos, NM
We love to take an annual summer trip to Taos, New Mexico. We love the city with all of its quaint shops, but staying in Taos Ski Resort provides a lot of much-needed peace and quiet.
Our favorite place to stay is the Columbine Inn. It's clean, quiet, updated, and the young couple who own it are very personable and available for anything their guests might need.
For our romantic experience, we put a bottle of wine, a couple of glasses, a small blanket, and some cheese in a backpack. We then take the ski lift at the ski resort up to the end, which is about 11,000 ft.
Then we hike up to the top (about 12,000). There we spread out our blanket, break out the wine and cheese and just enjoy the peaceful quiet and the awesome views. I swear you can see hundreds of miles in every direction!
