Yosemite National Park
I was perusing your site and thought I would make a little comment about a national park I went to while in Colorado. Actually I went there twice. The park is called Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, CO. What happened was I was on vacation and wanted to go horseback riding. I didn't know anything about Rocky Mountain National Park before that. The hotel I was staying at recommended it to me. So I took them up on it.
I called and arranged a four hour horseback ride in the park. It was great just sitting and enjoying the forest and expanse of the park for as far as I could see. Actually, this was the second time I went to the park. The first time I went, I believe I took a one hour horseback ride. This was many years ago so it's hard to remember at this time. I really enjoyed my stay in Colorado. Rocky Mountain National Park largely contributed to my experience.
However, being a native of California, nothing compares to Yosemite National Park. I've gone there many times. It has great hiking trails and camping locations. In fact, I used to make it a tradition to hike up Half Dome at least once every summer. Some summers I would do it multiple times. There's just something that draws me to it. I plan on hiking it again this summer, but need to get into a little bit of shape before I do. I've done it both in and out of shape and it's best to do it while in shape. That's for sure.
The waterfalls there are gorgeous. The best time to see the falls are after the rainy season. They are so big. There are ones that appear at that time that you wouldn't see if you waited to go later in the year because they would dry up by then. But there are some that are always there, of course. The best time to go is during the Spring. Due to the elevation of the park, you might even see snow still lying around the grounds.
Anyway, both parks are beautiful, but Yosemite is closest to my heart. Perhaps due to earlier experiences there when I was younger.
Thanks for allowing me this opportunity to share.
