One of our favorite little getaways is visiting the nearest hot springs resort and soaking all our troubles (and aches and pains) away. Depending on where you live, there could be one near you.
When we lived in Colorado Springs, CO, we loved to travel to Buena Vista (about a 2-hour drive west on Hwy 24) to visit the Cottonwood Hot Springs. If the mountain passes don't have too much snow and ice to drive there safely, the best time to go is in winter - especially if you live in a cold climate like Colorado.
We spent a wonderful New Year's Eve with some friends warming our bodies while watching the snow fall, and the deer traversing the surrounding hills. Very peaceful!

This is a one-of-a-kind place. You will not find anything like it anywhere else. Some say it's like stepping back in time to the 60s or 70s.
