Ski resorts are definitely on our list of favorite getaways in the summer.
They are great places to cool off from the summer heat. And they have every amenity you could want - from luxurious to inexpensive.

We spent a winter weekend in Breckenridge, CO and we don't even ski anymore. Autumn is a gorgeous time to visit Breckenridge also - the leaves are stunning.
Check out Breckenridge Lodging for summer or winter visits.
We spent an August anniversary at The Inn at Snowbird just minutes from Salt Lake City, Utah. It was awesome!
Four years in a row we spent a summer weekend (or two) in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico at the Columbine Inn. Now that's a place where you really can get away from the crowds. Taos itself is a small town crowded with tourists in the summer. But just drive up the canyon 20 minutes and you are greeted with cool, quiet surroundings.
There are many activities to make visiting resorts in the summer fun and worth the drive. Some have arts festivals - others have free naturalist-guided excursions. Some have golf courses, and may have moonlit gondola rides, star parties, classes in mountaineering, rock climbing, rappelling and glacier snow travel.
And, of course, they all have great restaurants on the premises or close by. Drive up for an evening on the veranda of one of the local restaurants and watch the stars come out.
Was it a romantic weekend? A family outing? What did you enjoy most about it?
