Wine Tasting Tours

Wine tasting tours can be a lot of fun - no matter the time of year. If you live close to some wineries - great! If not, you'll just have to travel a bit.

The most ideal way to experience a wine tour would be to enlist the services of a limousine company to transport you from winery to winery. You know the reason - unless you're one of those purists who tastes and spits. Hmmm . . . that's not me.

The fun is to taste and swallow, at least until you're too inebriated to appreciate even one more taste. (Wine purists - don't go away in disgust! It's just my preference.)

The "New" Napa Valley - Paso Robles

Now most of us are familiar with the wine regions in Napa and Sonoma Valleys in California. But have you ever visited the wineries in Paso Robles? There are 135 new wineries and quite a few hip new restaurants for you to try. Want to know more about it? Check out Paso Robles Wineries.

Wineries in Michigan?

But have you ever taken wine tasting tours in Michigan? Yes, believe it or not (I didn't know), they have a wine region in Michigan.

If you are nowhere near California, you might want to try some of wineries of Michigan's Old Mission Peninsula. Stop by the Black Star Farms Winery, Chateau Chantal's, or Brys Estate Winery to mention a few.

Ever heard of Ice Wine? I had never heard of it until a friend sent me information about it. Well, they make in Michigan - at Black Star, Chateau Chantal, and Brys Estate. It sounds delicious! I wish I could get my hands on a bottle right now!

It's an awfully cold wine-picking experience but read more about it. If you're close by, drop in for a wine tasting tour and a taste of Ice Wine.

Wineries on the Western Front - Colorado

We used to live in Colorado Springs while the rest of our family lived in Salt Lake City. We discovered the wineries in Palisade, Colorado (right next to Grand Junction) on our first trip to Salt Lake at Christmas time.

What a surprise to us! Vineyards in Colorado? That just didn't feel right, but there they were, several of them.

So on our way back from one of our many trips to Salt Lake, we stopped for a wine tasting tour. It felt a little strange - wine tasting before noon. But, hey, it was 5 o'clock somewhere! We must have tried 7 or 8 different vineyards, but Grande River Vineyards hosted our favorite wine, a merlot. Needless to say, we were pretty stewed - by noon. A short nap . . . and we were on our way home to Colorado Springs.

Wine tasting tours would be great for a winter or summer vacation. Or, why not invite a few friends over for your own personal wine tasting party. Everyone bring a bottle of their favorite wine in a brown bag. Put a number on each and then vote as you taste each one. To make it fair, be sure and put a $ limit or the most expensive wine will usually get the most votes. Have fun!
